Kids Experience a Silent Auction for Charity

Auction

This weekend our family attended a silent auction for a non-profit reading program my children are involved in.  The program became instrumental in helping to develop my children’s reading skills to the point where their interest in books and their ability to read has greatly increased.  The program is Links to Learning and we felt a need to give back and attend a fundraising event for the program this weekend.  My children had never been to a silent auction before and both wanted to use their SHARING money to bid on something at the event.  After arriving and having a look around they decided upon a stuffed Christmas penguin and reindeer that were being auctioned off as a pair.  They thought this was a great item because they could split the cost of their bid as they would each get one of the animals while supporting a great cause.  The kids made their first bid on the animals and signed up for an $11 bid.  Throughout the event my children kept checking to make sure that their bid was good and a few times when someone else outbid them had to increase their bid.  When the section that had the stuffed animals closed, they ended up winning them for a final bid of $15.  They split the cost and each paid $7.50 and besides being able to bring home some cute stuffed animals, they also supported a wonderful program for kids in our area.
